A Few Tips For Blackjack

Essential Tips for Playing Blackjack
When I first became interested in blackjack a few years ago, a friend shared some valuable tips and personal rules with me. I'm not sure where he got them, but they've served me well, so I thought it was time to pass on this wisdom.
Choose the Right Table
Always select a table with a low minimum bet?"no more than 5% of your bankroll per hand. A high minimum bet can quickly drain your funds before you've had a chance to recover.
Splitting Strategy
- Never Split 10s: A total of 20 is close enough to 21. Be content with it.
- Always Split 8s: Except when the dealer shows a 10.
- Always Split Aces: This gives you two chances at a blackjack.
- Never Split 5s: Keep them together for a stronger hand.
When to Stick
Always stick on 17. The dealer must also stick on 17, and the odds of drawing a low card are slim, so resist any gut feelings to hit.
Optimal Deck Choices
The fewer decks in play, the better your odds. The biggest advantage for the house comes between transitioning from one to two decks. Always choose single-deck games when possible; if the choice is between six and eight decks, go for six.
Look for Player-Friendly Rules
Choose tables with favorable rules such as:
- Surrender option
- Double down after splitting pairs
- Multiple pair splitting
- Ace re-splits
Focus on the Dealer
Your only opponent is the dealer, so ignore other players’ hands. Stay focused to maintain clarity and concentration.
General Advice
Practice responsible money management:
- Bet only what you can afford to lose.
- Set limits for yourself.
- Avoid gambling under the influence of alcohol.
I hope these tips serve you as well as they have served me. Happy gaming!
