The Simpsons Season 2 DVD Review
Summary:
Before "Seinfeld" transformed sitcoms, "The Simpsons" revolutionized prime-time animation. Breaking away from the innocent formulas of "The Flintstones" and "The Jetsons," "The Simpsons" tackled every societal issue with sharp, politically-incorrect satire. Filled with an endless array of memorable characters, a visit to Springfield is both refreshing and as hilarious as television comedy can get.
DVD Highlights:
The Simpsons Season 2 DVD features a collection of side-splitting episodes. The season kicks off with Bart striking a deal with school nerd Martin Prince. Bart promises to make Martin cool if Martin helps him become a top student. When Martin backs out, Bart has to pass on his own, earning a D- and the respect of Homer and Mrs. Krabappel.
In the iconic "Treehouse of Horror," Bart and Lisa share spooky tales, laying the groundwork for future Halloween specials. Other standout episodes include "Dancin’ Homer," where Homer becomes a local baseball mascot, and "Itchy & Scratchy & Marge," where Marge campaigns against cartoon violence affecting Springfield’s youth.
