Mafia Wars offers a level-based system with rewards as you progress. It includes an economic engine, rewarding strategic choices and helping you convert earnings into passive income. The game also features a social network aspect, offering more rewards as you grow your friend list. It's incredibly addictive, allowing you to play effectively without a huge time commitment.
Getting Started
When you log in, you'll see an engaging introduction, a snapshot of your initial property, and your first stats bar. Your main stats include:
- Cash: Every property pays out hourly, minus maintenance costs. Check the Properties tab to track earnings and expenses. There’s also a bank to save your money.
- Energy: Energy drives much of your income and XP. It regenerates one point every five minutes. The 'Doin' the Job' section details how to use energy efficiently and speed level by focusing on items and jobs.
- Health: Naturally replenishing, health is crucial in boss fights. It influences the number of hits you can take and fights you can engage in before needing to heal.

Changing your name later can be costly, so choose wisely from the start. Many players opt for names like "Don" followed by their last name, inspired by characters from the Godfather. Make sure your name stands out.
Character Types
- Fearless: This character regenerates health faster and can become a Top Mafia Wheel Man with unique abilities.
- Mogul: Moguls experience cash flow every 54 minutes and are the only characters eligible to become a Bagman.
- Maniac: With one energy point regenerating every three minutes, Maniacs qualify to be a Button Man, enhancing their chances in fights.
