Building An Awesome Audience For Your Book
Below is a MRR and PLR article in category Master Series -> subcategory Book Marketing.

Building an Incredible Audience for Your Book
Creating a strong audience for your book can make all the difference in its success. When I sold my novel, it coincided with the launch of my newsletter, "Living the Dream," for my coaching business. This newsletter turned out to be an invaluable platform for launching my book 18 months later, allowing me to pre-sell it long before it hit the shelves.
Why Building an Audience Matters
Having a list of subscribers is like discovering a goldmine. It’s crucial not only for selling your book but also for getting noticed by publishers. A large audience can lead to a bigger advance, so how do you grow such a list? Here are some strategies to help you cultivate and nurture your audience.
1. Start with Your Existing Contacts
Begin by leveraging the contacts you already have. This might be your email address book or your holiday card list. Send a general email informing them of your plans to send regular updates, and give them the option to opt out. Most will likely stay on because they’re interested in your journey.
2. Expand Your Network
As an author, it's essential to meet new people regularly. Attend networking events, take classes, or, ideally, engage in speaking opportunities. For non-fiction writers, speaking engagements are vital to establish expertise. Always get permission to add individuals to your list, as adding them without consent is considered spamming.
I once saw how effectively this works at a reading by E. Lynn Harris. He encouraged attendees to sign his guest book for future updates, creating a direct connection with his audience. Brilliantly, everyone was eager to join his list.
3. Use a List Service
Managing a growing list can be challenging. Many email accounts have limits on mass messaging. Consider using a list service like Constant Contact or 1ShoppingCart. These services help maintain your database and offer professional-looking templates for your communications. They also allow for easy sign-ups directly from your website.
4. Stay in Touch
Regular communication ensures your audience doesn’t forget about you. The method is up to you?"some authors send personal notes or inspirational quotes. I prefer email newsletters that include updates, valuable content, and book promotions. Providing useful information encourages people to stay subscribed.
In my newsletter, I’ve offered services discounts, holiday gift certificates, and career advice. Every edition highlights my book and its positive reviews. You can view past issues at [Creative Coaching Plans](http://www.creativecoachingplans.com/newsletter.html).
5. Generate Excitement for Your Book
As your book nears publication, build anticipation among your audience. Share pre-sale opportunities, book reviews, and your schedule for signings and events. When my book was listed on Amazon six months before its release, I sent a special announcement encouraging pre-orders. This resulted in my book ranking as high as 3,000 on Amazon, demonstrating the impact of a dedicated audience.
Building a devoted following requires effort, but it’s undoubtedly worth it. With an engaged audience, you not only boost your book sales but also enhance your overall presence in the literary world.
