Feeling Hopeless

Transforming Hopelessness into Clarity and Positivity

A Reader’s Letter

I don't usually feel hopeless, but here I am. I’m a single mom with two teenage boys. After my youngest was assaulted on his way to school last year, I left my job in television to start a marketing and PR business from home. Initially, I had two clients, earning more than at my previous job. But in March, I parted ways with one of them due to conflicting expectations, which halved my income.

I found a new client, but at just a third of the previous pay. I'm now in deep debt, my account is overdrawn, and payment from a client is delayed. My ex’s child support is late, and I can't afford groceries until the funds arrive. I'm terrified of checks bouncing.

I can't sleep; my stomach is in knots. Sometimes I think my kids would be better off with their well-off dad, who could provide more.

I don't know how to escape these financial woes. I have a meeting with a potential client tomorrow, but I’m too unfocused to prepare. I’m convinced they won’t want to work with me.

In other areas, my life is great. My kids are wonderful?"straight-A students and excellent athletes. I don't struggle with weight or relationships. It's just that money seems to slip away from me.

I do believe money can bring some happiness. For me, it would mean peace of mind. I want freedom, peace, and the ability to do as I wish.

Can you help me break this negative spiral?

Rebecca’s Response

Dear Reader,

Thank you for reaching out. I genuinely hope you're feeling better. I understand what you're going through?"I’ve been there myself. I remember days when I could only repeat, "I just want to feel good." Eventually, I did, and now that's my dominant feeling.

You’re a powerful “attractor.” Look at what you’re telling yourself about money, and notice how you attract more of the same.

Here's a tool I recommend: the T-tool.

1. Draw a T on a piece of paper. Label the left column “I Don’t Want” and the right “I Do Want.”
2. List everything you don't want. Use your letter as a guide:
- I don't want clients to pay me late.
- I don't want clients who undervalue my worth.
- I don't want late child support payments.

3. Transform each negative into a positive. Ask yourself, "If I don’t want this, what do I want?" and list it on the right:
- I want clients who pay joyfully and on time.
- I want child support checks to arrive early.

4. Focus on the positive list. Fold the paper to focus on the “Do Want” side. Imagine the joy of having clients who appreciate your work and timely child support.

Keep your focus on what you truly want. If a negative thought creeps in, remind yourself: "I’ve dealt with that, and what I do want is..."

The T-tool is fantastic for gaining clarity and harnessing the Law of Attraction. Once you have clarity, what you desire is on its way.

Wishing you freedom and peace of mind.

Rebecca
