In many respects, the internet feels like a "wild west" where established rules are often ignored. For those of us who follow the rules, it can be challenging.
Surprisingly, I often choose not to take action in many cases of article theft. Why? Simply put, I don't have the time to monitor everything. Some authors track every link to their site, but this task can be both tedious and time-consuming.
Golden Rule: If someone uses my article without permission but keeps the content and links intact, I don't worry about it. However, if they alter the content, change headers, the title, or take credit for the work, I contact the party to demand corrections. Even when links are broken, I typically overlook these minor issues.
In writing, time equates to money. I focus only on severe violations, letting minor ones go, so I can invest my time in more productive endeavors. My approach, or "golden rule," isn't perfect, but it prevents me from getting caught up in a futile pursuit.
