What If You Hate Selling?
Many people love the idea of having a home business but struggle with the concept of selling. I can relate?"while there are aspects of my home business that I naturally enjoy, like talking to people, listening, and teaching, promoting my products has always been a challenge.
At times, I quit because I felt I wasn't good at "selling stuff." Do you feel the same way? It's exciting to think about owning a business and the potential it offers, but when it comes down to making money, the reality hits: you have to promote your product or service.
But what if you hate selling? Are you stuck in a traditional 9-to-5 job forever? Not necessarily! I recently had a breakthrough that transformed my perspective on selling, and I hope it helps you too.
In the mid-1990s, I started exploring home-based businesses, feeling like a fish out of water. My first venture was successful until the company went out of business. Determined to do better, I researched, trained, and unfortunately failed in four network marketing ventures over three years.
Eventually, in 2001, I discovered the internet and finally began making money again. However, I still struggled with the idea of selling. I took marketing courses and prayed for a solution, hoping for a clear answer.
During this time, I fell ill for a couple of months. It was then that I learned about a new health discovery from the rainforest, rich in healing properties. As I researched, I became genuinely excited about its potential. I thought of hundreds of people who could benefit from it?"people I had never felt moved to share other products with.
The personal benefits I experienced from the product further convinced me. My illness went away, along with joint pain. Although I initially felt conflicted promoting something outside my company, I couldn't resist sharing it with others.
In a single month, I achieved more with this product than I had in a year with previous ones. And for the first time, I wasn’t worried about "selling stuff." What changed?
The key was that I wasn't focused on myself. Instead, I thought about the difference I could make for others. I wasn't trying to "sell stuff"; I was genuinely excited. When you are passionately connected to what you offer, it ceases to feel like work and becomes natural.
So, if you dream of a home-based business but dread selling, find something you are genuinely passionate about. Promote something you love, something you believe in, and something people truly need. Then, go out into the world and succeed!
