When my wife and I tied the knot a few years back, we established one major goal: to live where our hearts desired while working on our terms. Initially, I envisioned us residing by the ocean, with the gentle waves of Florida's shores as our backdrop. Although I'm originally from Michigan, Florida has been my true home. My wife, unlike most, was born and raised in Florida until a job offer whisked us away to Nashville, Tennessee.
Nashville, often celebrated as the well-kept secret of the South, quickly won our hearts. It seemed like the ideal place to envision our future, especially with raising our son in mind.
Determined to find our perfect spot, my wife and I embarked on a journey last year, exploring the South, Northeast, and eventually the mountains. It was the mountains that captivated us. As outdoor enthusiasts, we both fell for the breathtaking views. We longed for a friendly community and a robust business infrastructure to continue building our ventures.
Now, as I write this blog post, I'm nestled in a hotel room in Boulder, Colorado, surrounded by boxes. With our house sold and temporary accommodations lined up, I find myself technically homeless?"a strange yet exhilarating sensation.
At our farewell dinner with friends, I was bombarded with questions about my feelings. Was I excited, scared, or foolish for leaving behind a town rich with friendships and memories?
Thanks to technology, my clients remain just a tiny step away. With virtual work possible anywhere, I can maintain my business connections without a hitch. This newfound freedom motivated our adventure.
Imagine, for a moment, having a thriving business built on passive income. Where would you choose to live? Perhaps you already reside in your dream location. Consider taking a three-month vacation to the Caribbean or Fiji. People actually do this!
For me, creating my business was about options and control?"the liberating ability to choose my path. It’s a freedom I encourage everyone to chase.
So, how do I feel as we settle into this new chapter? Am I excited, nervous, and questioning my decisions? Absolutely. Yet, I wouldn't trade this experience for anything. We're here by choice, not necessity.
