A technique I frequently use to create powerful group rapport involves visualization. I imagine a large snow shovel at the back of the room, as wide as the audience. This shovel starts just above their heads and curves around, ready to harness energy.
I visualize drawing energy through my feet and projecting it through my eyes, draping a blanket of positivity gently over the audience. At the back, the imaginary snow shovel catches this energy, whips it around to a box in front of me, which I envision as a filter.
This process allows me to draw in everyone's energy and filter out negativity. I ensure no negative vibes, intentional or not, reach me unfiltered. The energy flows into the box and emerges completely clear, cycling back up through my feet and out through my eyes to start again.
Initially, this process is slow but gradually accelerates until it becomes self-sustaining. During my seminars, especially with large groups of 250 or 300 people, this technique creates an unparalleled bond.
Is this connection due to the words I use, the language or the information shared? Absolutely. We're united by a common goal and a shared experience of learning, curiosity, and fun. As a speaker and teacher, this dynamic elevates what I achieve at the front of the room.
