Summary
Recently, I decided to dive into the world of Myspace to create a personal webpage. The idea was to craft a space where I could track daily events through a blog, showcase my favorite photos, and connect with new friends online. It also seemed like an excellent way to keep my Toronto friends updated on my life in Winnipeg, allowing them to watch our kids grow from afar.
My Experience
Initially, I was excited, thinking this would be a fantastic platform to bridge the distance with friends and family. However, my enthusiasm quickly turned to frustration as I struggled to create my webpage. I naively hoped the software would magically discern my preferences, sparing me the effort of inputting everything manually. Admittedly, this was a result of my laziness.
While I did manage to partially complete my profile, I often found myself at a loss for interesting content. Under pressure, my ideas seemed dull, and I worried about coming across as uninteresting.
Lessons Learned
Success in creating a webpage probably lies in planning it out on paper first. This requires a level of thought and organization in which I was clearly lacking. I did enjoy having a personal blog for a while, as it allowed me to ramble about various topics and express my creativity. However, the excitement faded, and I was left with a neglected blog and only a few entries.
Reflections
I’m still intrigued by the idea of having a webpage, though it feels like another responsibility. Perhaps if technology allowed me to dictate content verbally, I might be more committed. Until then, I’m stuck with a lackluster profile page and an empty friends list.
Maybe one day I’ll revisit this endeavor with renewed motivation. For now, can anyone remind me of my own URL?
