Article Body:

As a business coach, I find it crucial to remind my clients to relax. I often say, "It's a game; this won't matter on your deathbed." Business owners can easily get lost in daily challenges and lose sight of the bigger picture. While you might be on the verge of losing your business or a significant account, these are the times when perspective is your greatest asset. Viewing business as a game can give you the mental and emotional strength to overcome the rough patches we all encounter.

Let's delve into the notion of business being a game. Just like a game, it comes with rules?"your rules, industry rules, cultural norms, government regulations, and more. In terms of maintaining perspective, your rules are the most crucial. Here are some rules I suggest:

1. Play the game of business to win, as if everything is on the line. Then, if things don’t work out, smile, laugh, and let it go.

2. Have fun whenever possible; smile often.

3. Keep your physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental reserves full through exercise, prayer, reading positive books, nurturing relationships, and getting rest. Among all the rules, this is the most important. Would a world-class athlete show up exhausted and mentally unprepared?

4. Learn basic business principles in finance, marketing, organizational development, and operations. Master the basics.

In business, we're essentially playing two games simultaneously: the internal game (the real game) and the external game (the worldly game). The external game involves your daily business practices and model. The internal game focuses on positivity, integrity, focus, presence, awareness, vision, and mental clarity. The rules I recommend apply to both games.

The first three rules cater to the internal game, while rule four addresses the external game. Ignoring the internal game can lead to reactivity, stress, health neglect, and losing sight of the fact that it's all a game. Conversely, focusing solely on the internal game and ignoring the external one can lead to happiness but lack of business success. Unfortunately, the latter issue is rare.

So, how can you start applying these principles? I suggest writing down your rules for the business game. Create rules for both the internal and external games. Then, design your ideal day, week, month, and year on paper or in your calendar. Visualize how a master would operate?"this is your gap. Now, find a coach, mentor, or guide that suits you. While these concepts are simple, they're not easy.
