A Simple Question
I have a straightforward question about my 18-month-old working red setter. He is generally well-trained, except in two areas:
1. Obedience in Classes: He struggles to obey commands during training sessions with many other dogs, which could hinder his performance in obedience shows.
2. Training to Quarter: I find it challenging to train him to quarter when searching for game. I train alone on the Moors and have all the training aids you recommend in your book.

Regarding your first issue, I suggest revisiting the book with a focus on timing, consistency, and motivation. The key is to adapt your corrections to match the level of distraction:
As distractions become more motivating, your corrections need to match that motivation.
Ensure your dog thoroughly understands your commands across various settings without the presence of other dogs. Only then is it fair to address any disobedience.
For your second concern, I must admit that hunt dog training is outside my expertise. Assuming "quartering" involves the dog moving back and forth to cover ground, I could create a training plan if I better understood your goals. However, my focus is on behavior and street-oriented obedience.
