New Service Enhances School Emergency Response

In response, several schools nationwide are adopting a cutting-edge alert system known as the Immediate Response Information System (IRIS). This innovative service rapidly sends emergency messages to thousands within seconds.
A designated staff member can initiate a uniform message from any phone or internet-connected computer. IRIS then disseminates voice and text alerts to various devices, such as home or cell phones, email, pagers, PDAs, and faxes. This system continues to attempt contact until a connection is made.
Apart from emergencies, IRIS proves effective for routine notifications, including weather alerts and testing schedules. Remarkably, it requires no additional hardware or costly installations for implementation.
Developed by TechRadium Inc., IRIS is being introduced to school systems and commercial properties across several states. The Houston Independent School District, one of the country’s largest, implemented IRIS last year. Additionally, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush directed the state's Office of Safe and Healthy Schools to recommend IRIS to districts aiming to enhance their communication systems.
