Families to Receive Free Child ID Kits at Sept. 3 Event
Enhance Child Safety This Labor Day Weekend
This Labor Day weekend offers families an opportunity to enhance child safety with essential resources. On Saturday, Sept. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wal-Mart stores across the nation will host the inaugural "Smart Parent ... Safe Baby" event in collaboration with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and Ross Products. During this event, families can obtain a free child ID kit complete with advanced DNA technology and a slot for a recent child photo.
Ernie Allen, president and CEO of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, expressed appreciation for Wal-Mart’s partnership, stating, "We're thankful for their ongoing efforts to educate parents about child safety and wellness. Preparedness and discussing preventive measures with children are vital to keeping them safe."
Here are some safety tips provided by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children for parents and guardians:
- Keep a current, high-quality photo of your child for emergencies.
- Ensure young children are never alone and set clear boundaries for where they can go.
- Always know your children's whereabouts and companions.
- Never leave children unattended in a vehicle.
- Use outings to discuss safety and turn them into "teachable moments."
Additional safety and wellness advice will be available at the event, courtesy of Similac Advance, PediaSure, Ensure Healthy Mom, Fisher Price, General Mills, Nestlé, and Procter & Gamble, all supporting Wal-Mart's child safety initiatives.
