When your newborn comes home, all your plans to avoid spoiling them quickly disappear. This tiny being controls your world. At the faintest sound, you're at their side. Just as you gently place your sleeping baby in the crib, their eyes snap open, and they wail loudly enough to wake the neighborhood. How could you leave them like that?
Exhausted, you give in to the cries, and soon your little one is comfortably nestled between you and your partner.
When your second child arrives, it seems crucial to encourage your firstborn to sleep in their own bed. Yet, they have other ideas. They may start off in their bed, but before you know it, they're back in the family bed by midnight.
You try new bedding, charming nightlights, calming music, and adorable mobiles to motivate them to stay in their room.
But don’t kid yourself; they're always one step ahead. Despite your pleas for a full night's sleep without interruption, your little one still makes their nocturnal visits.
Eventually, you decide to buy a larger bed for yourselves and let your child have the old one, thinking it’ll feel like their very own "big bed," just like mom and dad's.
More new bedding, generous praise for your little treasure. Why didn't you consider this sooner?
Ah, the innocence of new parents.
Even with a bigger bed, there's still more room in yours, allowing them to bring along a few toys for good measure!
As your family grows, so does the gap between you and your partner in bed. You find yourselves clinging to the edges, yet you can't help but smile as you hum, "There were five in the bed, and the little one said, 'Roll over!'"
