As a practicing Christian, I find little in Yoga that conflicts with Christianity. While some critics claim Yoga and Christianity can't coexist, it's important to remember that Yoga is not a religion.
This perspective often depends on individual beliefs. I've encountered claims that Kundalini is "new age witchcraft" and that Yoga is "the devil's exercise." Such claims seem reminiscent of the fear from the Salem witch trials, even though meditation has been practiced by ministers and priests for centuries without issue.
The content of your meditation matters most. If one focuses on negative thoughts, the experience might turn adverse. However, many branches of Yoga, as well as Hinduism or Buddhism, teach meditation without religious conversion. I personally enjoy Yoga but have no intention of changing my faith.
The teachings of Yoga and meditation are universal and non-sectarian. If Yoga were a religion, which would it be? The Yamas and Niyamas are akin to the Ten Commandments, and as a Christian, you can select what resonates with you. You also have the option to avoid sectarian ashrams.
