Can't Stop Smoking? Start Drinking Tea
Summary
This isn’t an article about quitting smoking. Quite the opposite, in fact. Whether you prefer a pipe, cigar, or cigarettes, if you're a smoker who has struggled to quit?"or haven’t even tried?"this is for you.Article Body
Let me start by saying, this isn’t about how to stop smoking. In a way, it's quite the opposite. Whether you favor a pipe, cigar, or cigarettes, some of us are just smokers. You might have tried to quit, or perhaps you never cared to. Either way, the reality is, I’m a smoker. If this resonates with you, then this is for you.
One afternoon, while battling a sore throat, I found myself holding a pipe in one hand and searching for a lighter with the other. I thought, "I shouldn't be doing this." I'd had a sore throat for a week and still couldn’t stop smoking.
I accepted it?"I wasn’t going to stop smoking entirely. Slowing down, maybe; quitting, no. This realization was crucial because it helped me find balance.
All those "Stop Smoking" ads rushed through my mind: smoking ages you, causes cancer, stains your teeth, smells bad... I acknowledged them all.
So, what next? With a sore throat bothering me, I decided to tackle it first. Mouthwash, medicine, vitamins?"they seemed like good ideas. But my throat still hurt, and I started coughing.
Perhaps the coughing was a blessing because it led me to reach for a cup of tea. The steam helped me breathe, and the hot water soothed my throat. This experience got me thinking.
I dove deeper and decided to increase my tea intake. I discovered that drinking tea, especially Rooibos and Jasmine Green Tea, can help me relax, provide antioxidants to combat free radicals from smoking, detoxify my body, aid breathing, and soothe a sore throat.
Could tea be a helpful companion on this smoky journey? From personal experience, I have found that tea helps. I’m not claiming that tea will protect me from all ailments or prevent future illness, but it allows me to minimize the damage.
While I can't make any promises, one thing remains clear: drinking tea is a good idea.
