Fifty-one contestants, representing every state and the District of Columbia, will compete in this prestigious contest. The only mandatory ingredient is chicken, which participants can use in any form?"whole, in parts, or even pre-cooked, pre-marinated, or ground.
The rest of the recipe is up to your imagination. Entrants need to create original recipes that serve four to eight people and can be prepared and cooked twice in under three hours. However, grilling recipes are not allowed.
There’s no limit to the number of recipes you can submit. Each entry should be on a separate sheet and include your name, address, and phone number.
A panel of esteemed food experts and journalists will judge the entries based on taste, appearance, simplicity, and overall appeal.
Prizes will be awarded to the top five finishers, with the runner-up receiving $10,000, third place taking home $5,000, fourth place earning $2,000, and fifth place winning $1,000. State finalists will enjoy an expense-paid trip to Birmingham for the cook-off.
The contest is sponsored by the National Chicken Council and the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association, with local hosting by the Alabama Poultry Federation.
