India is rapidly emerging as a prime destination for real estate investments, capturing the attention of numerous Israeli firms. A notable newcomer to this growing list of investors is American billionaire Shaya Boymelgreen. He recently acquired Azorim Investment in Israel for $500 million from IDB Holding Corp Ltd, according to a report by the Times of India.
Shaya Boymelgreen is collaborating with Nochi Dankner, a well-known Israeli entrepreneur who has highlighted the promising prospects of the Indian market. Both are exploring several potential joint ventures in India, with Azorim Investment's CEO, David Lev, planning a visit to the country soon.
Big Shopping Centers (2004) Ltd has already established an Indian subsidiary, Big India, partnering with a local entity that holds a 40% stake. They have purchased two plots of land, each half an acre, to develop commercial centers with a projected investment of $40 million.
Additionally, Elbit Medical Imaging Ltd., headed by Chairman Motti Zisser, announced earlier this year its intention to invest in India. The company is planning to construct three commercial centers, which will add significant value to its real estate portfolio. Having gained considerable experience in Eastern Europe a decade ago, Elbit Medical sees parallels and immense business potential in the current Indian market.
Natan Hetz, the controlling shareholder of Alony Hetz Property and Investments Ltd., also revealed plans to invest $100 million, alongside partners, in Indian ventures. Furthermore, Gazit-Globe Ltd., led by Chairman Chaim Katzman, and Ocif Investments and Development Ltd., managed by Doron Aviv and Dafna Harlev, are expressing interest in entering the Indian real estate scene.
