In Omaha High, the game begins with the player to the dealer's immediate left posting the small blind, typically half of the minimum bet. The player to their left posts the big blind, matching the minimum bet, which is 4 dollars in this example.After blinds are posted, each player receives four face-down cards, starting with the small blind and moving clockwise. The first betting round begins with the player to the left of the big blind. They can choose to call (bet an amount equal to the minimum bet), raise (double the minimum bet), or fold (forfeit their hand).
The betting continues until it returns to the small blind. If the small blind chooses to call, they only need to bet half the minimum to complete it, alongside their blind. The big blind can then raise or check.
Once the initial betting round concludes, the dealer reveals three community cards, known as the flop, in the center of the table. The second round of betting starts with the player to the dealer's left, maintaining a minimum bet of 4 dollars.
Following the second round, the dealer places a fourth community card, called the turn, on the table. This initiates a new betting round with the minimum bet increasing to 8 dollars. Omaha High-Low Rules
Omaha High-Low, also known as Omaha 8 or Better, follows the same structure as Omaha High until the showdown. However, the pot is divided between the player with the highest hand and the player with the best qualifying low hand. If no low hand qualifies, the highest hand wins the entire pot.To qualify as a low hand, a player must have five cards with values no higher than 8. The best low hand, known as the wheel, consists of A, 2, 3, 4, 5. The Ace can serve as high or low, and straights and flushes don't affect the low hand.
In some cases, the pot may be split among more than two players. Occasionally, one player may win the entire pot by holding both the highest and the lowest hand with the same five cards.
