Where Are The Dreamers

Where Are the Dreamers?
Before Answers, There Were Dreams
In days past, the Tennessee Mountain Man looked to the stars?"not just to dream girls like Liz Taylor and Marilyn Monroe, but also to visionaries who inspired dreams of change. Icons like John Kennedy challenged a generation, while Martin Luther King Jr. transformed a nation. Bobby Kennedy had visions, and so did the "Gipper."
Celebrating the Dream Makers
Dream makers went beyond just having visions; they nurtured them. Teachers inspired greatness, while professionals worked for the love of their craft, often accepting modest payments like butter or eggs. Spiritual leaders spread messages out of genuine faith, not for money or fame. Community figures walked among us, engaging and inspiring.
Holding Fast to Dreams
Langston Hughes captured the essence of dreams:
“Hold fast to dreams,
For if dreams die,
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams,
For when dreams go,
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.”
A Call for Dreamers
Where are the Dr. Kildares urging us toward nobler aims, or the shows that spurred imagination like "Route 66"? Where are the roadside stands sparking childhood wonder without caution?
Dreamers No More?
Why have those who started with just dreams retreated to luxury, losing sight of inspiration? The torch must pass to a new generation. Our accomplishments come with a duty to inspire new dreams.
Community and Inspiration
Community pride and activities like 4-H and the Boy Scouts seem to wane. Are we nurturing future achievers, or allowing complacency? Does your pastor inspire, or merely count attendees? Are teachers in it for love or leisure? Civic leaders should lead, or make way for the next dreamers.
Challenges and Lamentations
Why is "hanging in the hood" appealing? Why do gangs thrive? We dreamed of being heroes, doctors, and leaders. We watched Lassie with dreams stirring as we snacked on popcorn.
Dreaming Before Achieving
Before action, there were dreams: Rosa Parks had one, John Glenn followed suit. We dreamed of being, becoming, serving, and living.
Facing the Future
What happened to the dreamers? Do today's troubled stars represent our future? Who will ignite the imagination and guide us through uncertainty to brighter days?
Where are the dream makers? Where are the dreamers? It's time to reignite the flame of imagination.
