A Laptop of My Own
Working from home day and night on a borrowed laptop is less than ideal. Especially when it's taken back from me at times. That’s why I've decided it's time to get a laptop of my own. Or should I consider a desktop? Maybe a PC or an Apple Mac? I could even opt for one of those compact devices that fit neatly in my handbag.
After careful thought, I circle back to the idea of a laptop. But where do I begin? What do I really need? My business is small, so I don’t need a high-end model?"at least, not yet. I’ll use it mainly for writing articles, updating my website, and maybe a bit of online shopping. It should be just for me?"most of the time.
I start researching online to see what others are buying and what manufacturers are offering. Suddenly, the tech world feels like a confusing sea of jargon. Do I even know what I want?
What kind of memory do I need? My husband, a programmer, insists on 2GB of RAM and 2.0TB of storage. Whatever that means! I'm a bit skeptical?"does he have his own agenda with these specs?
I check out Dell and find a model within my budget that seems to meet my needs. But then I'm faced with a selection of extras that all add to the price.
I decide to pause. Maybe I don’t need my own laptop after all. Perhaps using my husband’s will suffice.
"Neither a borrower nor a lender be" ?" Shakespeare might not agree, but this seems to work for us.
