This article presents a prototype system that digitizes ECG paper records, making them accessible for advanced analysis and network transmission. The system processes scanned images of the ECG records using image processing techniques like filtering and thinning to extract waveforms. These are then saved and indexed as ASCII data files.

Preliminary tests on sample ECG records have shown promising results, indicating improved storage, retrieval efficiency, and clinical applicability.
