One morning, I was called into the office of the Army Sergeant Major (ASM). Clearly looking for some amusement, he announced a plan to test the team's engineering and adaptability skills. The challenge was for the tradesmen to create a self-powered machine?"with no metal?"that could transport an egg the furthest distance across the shop floor. I tried to feign enthusiasm, though I secretly wondered who'd be at the snooker club that night.

The machine spun its wheels furiously but stayed put. Finally, it flipped over and cracked the egg. I tried to contain my laughter but failed, collapsing in fits of mirth. The ASM demanded another attempt, but rules allowed only one egg per contestant.
Out of sympathy, a new egg was given for a second try. With the rubber band wound even tighter, the machine launched forward, racing across the floor with everyone, including the boss, cheering it on.
The afternoon concluded with more laughter and beer, each glance at the ASM's grinning face reigniting my amusement. This small episode reminded me that work doesn’t always have to be serious?"it can be fun, too.
