Am I an Expert Now? Have I Become a 'Guru'?
Summary
After seven or eight years in internet marketing, navigating scams, launching businesses, and finding moderate success, should I consider myself a 'guru'?Article
Having spent around seven years in online marketing, I've explored every money-making scheme out there. From illegal gifting and pyramid schemes in my early days, to losing money in investment programs, to exhausting get-paid-to-read efforts, and diving into multi-level and affiliate marketing, I've tried it all.
Along this journey, I've picked up quite a bit about marketing, recruiting, building downlines, and the highs and lows of making money online. But does this make me an expert or a 'guru' in internet marketing and home-based businesses? I certainly don't see myself as one.
I manage my own websites, contribute to a successful team in a fantastic MLM company, engage in affiliate programs, run blogs, and write articles on internet marketing and home-based businesses. Yet, I still don't consider myself an expert or a 'guru'?"whatever that may mean.
I read about self-proclaimed experts with four to six years of experience who write ebooks, courses, and even hold conferences. Yet, their advice often teaches me nothing new.
I’m not an expert or a 'guru', but I do have experience and am eager to share what I've learned. However, I'm also still on my learning journey, always seeking out new ebooks and marketing techniques. We should constantly learn and never rest on our laurels, thinking we've mastered everything. Share your knowledge, but keep growing.
Recently, I spoke with someone I’ve known online for years. He was surprised to find out I wasn’t the 'heavy hitter' or marketing guru he thought I was. When I explained that I’m just working hard to earn a living online like him, he was astonished. Realizing I'm plugging away just like him boosted his confidence, making him believe in his own potential for success, and he will succeed.
So, the next time you're offered insights from a 'guru', ask yourself: do they really know more than you?
