Think Like an Entrepreneur
Embrace the Entrepreneurial Mindset
Summary:
Transitioning to self-employment requires a shift in mindset?"from thinking like an employee to viewing yourself as an entrepreneur.---
My greatest challenge in becoming self-employed was changing my own mindset.
To truly thrive as a self-employed individual, I had to adopt an entrepreneurial way of thinking. I often found myself stuck in the nine-to-five mindset, believing that productivity meant completing a task every hour.
However, self-employment involves much more. Sometimes, it’s about making crucial business decisions or pondering solutions to problems. Other times, it requires quieting the mind to let new ideas flow. Just because you're not actively typing away doesn’t mean you aren't working.
I've also realized the importance of managing distractions, like phone calls and emails. While working a regular job, I would respond to every email as it arrived. It took time for me to recognize that it’s okay to check emails only a few times a day, rather than constantly interrupting my workflow. Similarly, allowing calls to go to voicemail can be a good practice.
There will be days when you feel unproductive, but then there are days you’ll feel unstoppable and achieve an incredible amount. Some days might not bring tangible results, but you’ll make important decisions or gain valuable insights about yourself.
Another lesson was to stop equating every task with immediate financial gain. I used to stress over daily earnings, but I learned that investing time in activities like marketing may not pay off immediately, but is beneficial in the long run.
Instead of fixating on benefits I do not have, I focused on the advantage of answering only to myself. Every effort I make directly benefits me, not someone else’s budget. My potential is limited only by my dreams.
Now, I do what I love instead of what others dictate, which brings me happiness and fulfillment. By learning to think like an entrepreneur, I found I truly became one.
