Summarizing a life philosophy in a few paragraphs is no small feat, yet many great thinkers from Plato to Mill have dedicated volumes to expressing their beliefs. With that in mind, I’d like to share my own philosophy and how it has shaped my journey.

At its core, my philosophy is simple: Do what you love and love what you do.

The first part is straightforward. Life is fleeting, so it’s crucial to pursue what truly resonates with you. What you love reveals your authentic self and what you’re meant to contribute.

The second part?"loving what you do?"requires more effort. Sometimes, circumstances force us into roles we didn’t choose. But negativity only drains us and those around us. By embracing and giving our best to whatever we’re doing, we remain positive, kind, and capable of working towards our ultimate goal of doing what we love. As Betty Friedan noted, self-fulfillment often comes through serving a greater purpose. Loving what you do isn’t passive; it demands active engagement.

This philosophy emerged from my own experiences. Years ago, I was a computer programmer earning $50,000 a year at just 26. Yet, despite my success, I felt unfulfilled, lacking passion for computers. I longed for meaningful work involving people. Barbara Sher articulated this well: our talents are often where our passions lie. This realization led me to create Mommy Mentors in 2004, a resource for women of all backgrounds to find support and inspiration. Our network focuses on family, motherhood, and friendship, empowering women through shared experiences.

Mommy Mentors allows me to help women connect, learn, and grow. Witnessing their empowerment brings me more fulfillment than any program ever could.

This philosophy permeates all areas of my life. Every day, I strive to love what I do, treating everyone with kindness and compassion.

Success in life requires more than just doing what you love. It also demands the effort to love whatever you do. Whether faced with a simple meal or a banquet, we must embrace the chance to give our best.
