Stanley has recently launched the Fat Max series, a collection of high-quality hand tools. We received a selection from this range to review, and as usual, it's my job to evaluate them. Let's dive in!

In the package, we found three tools: the Fat Max Fubar, a hammer, and a set of four chisels. Right away, I noticed the robust quality that Stanley is known for. These tools are solid and durable?"a promising start.
Exploring the Fat Max Fubar
The first tool I tried was the Fubar. I'd heard a lot about it from colleagues. Stanley even has a video demonstrating its power?"builders using it to effortlessly demolish a shed. The Fubar is essentially a modern evolution of the crowbar, designed for tasks like prying, splitting, bending boards, and striking. Forged from high-carbon steel with a trilobe design, it can handle up to 975 foot-pounds of bending momentum. Although it's highly effective for specific tasks, I’m not sure it will replace the traditional sledgehammer or crowbar for most people.
Reviewing the Chisels
Next, I examined the Fat Max chisels. They offer a cost-effective solution for home workshops. The ergonomic rubber handles are particularly noteworthy, providing a comfortable grip. They come in a practical plastic carry case with a clear front, making selection easy.
Assessing the Hammer
Finally, we looked at the Stanley Fat Max 22-Ounce Checkered Face Framing Hammer. It features a rim-tempered, chamfered edge to prevent chipping, and its uniquely designed head offers a larger striking surface and improved balance. However, many might still say, "A hammer is a hammer."

The chisels are a solid choice, though you might want to hold onto your current set for now. As for the hammer, it’s undoubtedly good, but in my opinion, it doesn’t quite match up to an Estwing.
