- Without rotating the candlestick, guide it clockwise within the gauge until the base edge gently touches the gauge.
- Make a couple more passes to remove any unwanted material.
- You should see a small hole where the needle stem penetrated the wood, which is perfectly normal.

- You'll have a clean, excavated base approximately 1" deep with a "Florida" pattern on the surface between the cavity and the cone.
