Not having to pay was a bonus, but the real reward was the movie's impact. Nick Nolte, whose career I’ve followed sporadically, delivered one of his finest performances. His imperfect appearance and distinctive, scratchy voice work beautifully, even if the film has a few cheesy moments. These minor flaws are easily overlooked when considering the bigger picture.
After watching, my son and I couldn’t stop discussing and quoting the film on the way home. This was remarkable because my son, usually sparing with words, was engaged and inspired.
