However, I recently realized a long-held dream: I started taking guitar lessons.
You might think it’s no big deal, but if you knew my story, you'd understand the significance. I've wanted to play guitar since I was eight years old. Over the years, I diligently saved spare change to afford a guitar and lessons. For me, beginning guitar lessons is symbolic of many milestones in my life.
This step wasn’t just about financial discipline; it was also about moving past fear. I have a habit of only pursuing things I'm already good at, leaving many goals unfinished. Starting guitar lessons meant facing my fear of failure and embracing new challenges. It marked the beginning of a journey I've wanted to embark upon for a long time.
Guitar lessons also helped me tackle another important goal: overcoming my apprehension about meeting new people. My instructor, a genuinely welcoming person, made this step significant nonetheless. I’ll never forget the anxiety I felt as I knocked on his front door for the first lesson, my heart racing. Within minutes, I was inside, learning about him and beginning my guitar journey, all while checking off two goals from my list. Not bad for just a few minutes of bravery.
