Mykill: (Laughs) Absolutely! We’re still here. While I juggle various projects, I really enjoy my bands.
SG: Are you working on original music with DSM?
M: Yes, finally. We've been discussing it for a while, and now it's happening. The guys have some outstanding ideas, unlike a previous project that leaned towards cheesy ballads. This band focuses on serious music, far removed from that ridiculous stuff.
SG: Not a fan of love songs?
M: Not really. My taste in music, what I buy, and what I write are distinct. My collection might make you think I’m schizophrenic!
SG: How many projects are you involved with?
M: Recently, Angel F, Romeo V, and I formed Pawns of Christ. It's completely separate from our previous band, and we'll be exploring a mix of our tastes. The past experience was frustrating, with people not showing up or canceling. We wanted to move past that.
SG: How often do you practice?
M: Mostly during rehearsals or shows. Life doesn’t allow me much time. I often compose in my head and then play it. It’s a skill I’m grateful to have honed.
SG: How do you prepare for live performances?
M: I try to guzzle as much coffee as possible! (Laughs) That and pre-show nerves usually do the trick.
SG: Any pre-show rituals?
M: (Chuckles) No rituals, just music.
SG: Can you talk about your drum set?
M: I use TAMA drums?"solid and reliable. My setup is extensive with various series like ROCKSTAR and SWINGSTAR. I’m also a big PAISTE cymbals fan, covering different series.
SG: Impressions and influences?
M: Growing up, Ron Bushy from Iron Butterfly and Ron Tutt from Elvis were influential. Later, I gravitated towards heavier music with drummers like Dave Lombardo and Charlie Benante. I admire all of them in different ways.
SG: Tell us about the internet project with Bryan Reilly.
M: Bryan and I are collaborating again, exchanging ideas digitally. It’s efficient and opens new creative avenues.
SG: What’s the largest crowd you’ve played for?
M: Around 2,500 people. An exhilarating experience!
