Suppose you have a script with dialogues for three different voices. While you could hire actors or enlist friends, MMG 4.0 allows you to manage it all on your own, thanks to its impressive features.

First, it’s crucial to prepare a written script. You might need several attempts to achieve an acceptable audio file, and working from a script significantly enhances your chances for success. Make sure to write out every word and identify the speaker for each line, like this:

Tom: Hello, my name is Tom.

Dick: Nice to meet you, Tom.

Harry: Same here!

Tom: OK, let's get down to business.

Having a prepared script ensures accurate recording for each speaker every time. For your initial recording, read the script into your microphone after starting the recorder in the editor. Use your normal voice and speak clearly without rushing. After finishing, click the save button to store your file, making it available for editing. Check how long it runs and adjust as necessary. Practice until you’re happy with both the length and quality of your voice.

Microphone quality can greatly impact recordings with this program. Surprisingly, a microphone ideal for amplifiers might be unsuitable for PC recordings. I found an inexpensive older microphone, labeled AM-32, that worked excellently. It minimized background noise, required minimal power, and delivered crisp sound. Sometimes, less expensive gear is more effective.

Now, back to your file. You can either work with the existing file or create a new one. Here’s how to modify the current file using the built-in voice morpher filter. Open the effects panel, navigate to Effects Library > Voice Morphing > Independently of Channels Quantity > Voice Morpher. You’ll find three sliders: Pitch, Timbre, and Advanced Tune. These are your tools for crafting diverse voices. Pitch is key: 100% is normal, lower values decrease pitch, and higher values increase it. Make minor adjustments to find the right setting for each voice and record them for future use.

First, highlight a section of your audio file by dragging the cursor over it. Adjust the settings, apply by clicking OK, and listen. If unsatisfied, use Edit > Undo to reset and then recalibrate. If satisfied, click outside the highlighted area to apply changes. Move through the file, selecting and modifying lines for each character with these morphing settings. Experiment until you achieve the desired effect for each voice.
