Instead of explaining it (let’s just say “buzzed” isn’t the best state for detailed descriptions), why not pop over there yourself? Go ahead, I’ll wait. (PAUSE) Welcome back! Now that you understand what HotorNot.com is, let’s dive into my observations.
HotorNot.com is perfect for guilt-free browsing. It lets me admire women without any risk of being labeled a “pervert” or “freak.” I can look as long as I like without worrying about the police getting involved.
The site also allows me to rate the women. This mirrors the inner dialogue many men have anyway: evaluating whether they find someone attractive based on a simple scale, often humorously reductive as a “would I or wouldn’t I” measure.
One thing I find frustrating is when a photo includes men alongside the women. How can I rate her accurately with that distraction? If I rate her a 9, does that irreflexively apply to him too? I’m not out to judge men; I’m certainly not gay, but I can recognize an unattractive man. That doesn’t mean I’m comfortable rating them.
Recently, I finally summoned the courage (and the funds) to upload my own picture to HotorNot.com. Getting the picture developed onto a CD cost me $2.82, a significant line item for a cheapskate like me. Now, it’s a daily routine to check my rating. Today, I’m at a 7.2! Apparently, I'm hotter than 69% of the men on the site. I’ll definitely be mentioning that at my high school reunion. Who cares about careers in law or medicine when you’re ranked in the top 35% of online hotness?
